Woodcrest MDO and Preschool uses the Carpenter's Kids curriculum, "the blueprints for building God's Kingdom one child at a time." This curriculum encompasses many early childhood objectives such as letter and phonemic recognition, shapes and colors of the month, numbers, calendar skills, social skills, imaginative play, learning about nature and much, much more.
In addition, as we introduce letters of the alphabet, the curriculum includes a Bible story that also begins with that letter. Children learn through these stories and throughout the year about God's word and how He wants us to live. Students are encouraged to pray and to practice good moral values with one another such as sharing and kindness on a daily basis. Our overall theme and slogan at Woodcrest is "Let your light shine." We let our light shine for Jesus every day by being kind to others.
This curriculum was written by Robyn Hudson, a Christian Education Director from Atlanta, GA, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible Studies from Atlanta Christian College. Please visit http://www.carpenterskidscurriculum.com/ for more information and to view samples.
Teachers use the themes included in the Carpenter's Kids curriculum and also supplement with other materials that we have, such as the Mailbox Magazine for teachers and many others to complete creative and challenging lesson plans each month for the children.
